Arrival and Dismissal

Please drop off your children 10 minutes before the start of class. Children must enter the south (right hand) gym doors from the parking lot. For the safety of the children we will lock the gym doors from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m. The children will remain in the gym until class begins. Parents of first to third grade children may pick up your children in the gym or wait in the foyer of school until we dismiss the children. Children in the upper grades will leave through the south gym doors.

Students who need early dismissal must have a written excuse by the parents. They must hand the excuse to the DRE. Upon early dismissal the child must be picked up at the school office.

Attendance and Tardiness

We ask parents to insure that their children will be on time for all scheduled classes and activities. If your child will be late or absent for class, please contact the DRE or CYF office at 634-3607 between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Parents may receive a call at home to insure student safety.

If your child is late for class, please bring your child to the front doors of the school (Northwestern Avenue). An office assistant will check your child in and take him/her to class. Keep in mind by arriving late for class can cause unnecessary difficulties for both teachers and students.

Discipline

We require and expect students to conduct themselves, as God would expect them to behave. If a student repeatedly disrupts class, engages in offensive behaviors, uses obscene language, possesses alcohol or drugs, the following policy will apply.

  • 1st Offense: The child has a consultation with the DRE.
  • 2nd Offense: The DRE will call the parent for a consultation.
  • 3rd Offense: The DRE will immediately send the child home with the parent. The parent will home school the child for the CYF School year. Before returning to CYF for the following year, the child will have a consultation with the DRE.

Progress Reports

Periodically a progress report will be sent home. This report is to help the child to further in his or her knowledge, participation and understanding of his/her strengths and weaknesses.

Weather Emergency

Weekday Religious Education classes will be cancelled on days when snow prevents attendance at the public schools, or when they send students home early due to snow. Please listen to WRJN-AM for CYF cancellations during inclement weather. You will also receive a phone call when there is a cancellation of classes.

Youth Group Activities

We will hold special activities throughout the year for all 7th to 11th grade. There will also be special events for the elementary children. See events calendar. The Wednesday evening open gym will be held on selected Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Watch for additional community service projects and social activities provided throughout the year.
