Family formation

At Sacred Heart Parish, we believe that faith formation is a central element to our mission to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through prayer and consideration, we have decided to embark on a new brand of Faith Formation. We believe that values are passed on and carried on best, when they are imparted from parents to their children. We have decided to base our programs around this principle.

Starting in September of 2018, we at Sacred Heart Parish invite you to participate in our free, family-centered faith formation. Parents and children go through material together, and learn as a family.

Students and parents will meet twice a month at Sacred Heart, as well as once a month in their homes. Sessions meeting at Church will run 8:30-10:00am Sunday mornings.

8:30- fellowship

8:50- family time (group learning)

9:10- group sessions (grade specific)

Programs start in 1st Grade, and go through high school.

formation that sticks

Like many other parishes we have experienced it too: religious education programs that just didn't get the job done. Parents would drop off their kids on a Wednesday night. The kids would sit around, bored, then leave and wonder what they were supposed to have learned. It was a formula which did little in the way of forming.

So we decided to make a change. God teaches us to "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). Our Father in heaven instituted the family as a means of love, guidance and support.

Children are formed in their homes, by their parents. No truth is taken more deeply to heart that one which a parent passes on to their child. This is why our faith formation programs include parents. You are the key, your children's futures depend on you. With you guiding your children, they will receive a faith formation that will inform and transform them forever.
